Blooming greed ~

Using the tulip as a symbol of beauty, Blooming Greed explores the delicate tension between admiration and possession. From the spiritual reverence of the Ottoman Empire to the frenzy of the Dutch Tulip Mania, tulips have symbolically journeyed from paradise to speculation.

Through the four natural elements and the arguably beautiful and inarguably permanent human imprint on them, this series of silk paintings reflects on our impulse to own what we find beautiful, and our habit of exploiting nature in pursuit of status and identity.
